Recently, Mr. Zhang Shuxiang, the former Vice President of Tencent Cloud, officially joined MatrixOrigin as a Partner and Senior Vice President, taking full responsibility for MatrixOrigin's commercialization efforts.
Founded in 2021, MatrixOrigin's founding team comprises experts from leading domestic and international internet companies, software companies, digital enterprises, and open-source communities, such as Tencent Cloud and Snowflake. The core team includes specialists in products, research and development, solutions, ecosystems, and open source communities, with extensive experience in distributed architecture, databases, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence. Not long ago, MatrixOrigin completed a $10 million Pre-A round of financing, led by VNET and followed by Honour Base. After this round of financing, MatrixOrigin plans to expand its business from its hyper-converged heterogeneous database MatrixOne to AI Infrastructure and AI Platform fields, and will deeply integrate and collaborate with VNET's AIDC business.
Before joining MatrixOrigin, Mr. Zhang Shuxiang served as Vice President of Huawei Cloud, Vice President of Tencent Cloud, and Senior Vice President of Shanghai Iluvatar CoreX Technology. In 2023, he founded Shenzhen Pimei Technology Co., Ltd. and served as CEO.
After graduating, Mr. Zhang joined Huawei, starting his career as an R&D engineer. He held various positions in research and development, sales, and comprehensive management, eventually rising to Vice President of Huawei Cloud. At Huawei, he accumulated extensive domestic and international experience in technology, business, and management. During his tenure at Tencent, Mr. Zhang was fully responsible for Tencent Cloud and the China region business of the Smart Industries Group, leading his team to continuously expand Tencent Cloud's presence and maintain rapid business growth. He led the construction of smart cities and industrial operations in several provinces and cities, promoting the implementation and sustained operation of new models of government-enterprise collaboration in the new era. He pioneered the comprehensive digital operation of Tencent's government and enterprise business, establishing and successfully implementing Tencent's first ToB business management dashboard, significantly improving enterprise management efficiency and quality. In 2022, Mr. Zhang joined Iluvatar CoreX, a leading company in the AI infrastructure and platform field, as Senior Vice President, fully responsible for its global market and commercialization efforts.
